Command-line runner

The propep command-line tool that shares RustPEP's calculation engine.

The RustPEP project includes propep, a command-line runner built on the same solver and data as the desktop application.

The 0.1.0 download packages contain the desktop application only. How the command-line runner will be distributed has not been finalized, so treat this page as a reference for the tool rather than something you can install today.

Finding an ingredient

Ingredients are referred to by their code number. find searches by name:

propep find "ammonium perchlorate"
  137 AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE (AP) dHf -602 cal/g rho 1.949 g/cc Oxidizer

Running a recipe

Give each ingredient as code=grams:

propep run --pc 1000 137=68 845=20 63=12
Option Meaning Default
--db legacy|cea Product database cea
--pc <psi> Chamber pressure 1000
--pe <psi> Exit pressure 14.7
--ions Include ionized species off
--legacy-compat Legacy atomic weights and enthalpy basis off
--json Print the result as JSON instead of the text report off
--nozzle Also print the expansion-ratio table off

Sample output

The text report follows the layout of the original PEP program. This is the output for the command above, with the chamber and exhaust species tables left out:

    63 ALUMINUM (PURE CRYSTALINE) 12.000 0 0.09760 1AL

THE PROPELLANT DENSITY IS 0.05938 LB/CU-IN OR 1.6436 GM/CC
THE TOTAL PROPELLANT WEIGHT IS 100.0000 GRAMS
